How Globus Is Making the Most of Mealtimes

Touring is not only about seeing and feeling, it's also about tasting. One of the most important aspects of vacationing abroad is to experience the culinary differences between one part of a country and another. In fact, geography and weather or climate play a very big part in the those differences. One part of a country could be way up above sea level where only certain herbs grow, and the opposite can and will be said about the other end.

The very essence of Europe is revealed through its cuisine, which is why Globus is making food an important part of the tour experience. Globus Mealtimes s about experiencing the destination through the region's food.

Each day you stay with a large breakfast spread.  The buffet varies depending on the country you are visiting but there are always fresh baked breads and pastries, meats (ham, cheese, etc.) fresh fruit and coffee.  Eggs, bacon, beans and other items are usually included as well.

In the afternoon, you are often on your own to savor the local flavors, but at times there will be special local lunches included as well.  One of our favorite things to do is to stop at a local bakery and get a fresh made sandwich or bread with cheese, fruit and wine and people watch in the town square.

At night take advantage of some of Globus' included dinners.  Although dinner is not included every night, you usually have several included throughout your tour at local restaurants with wines from the region. Some examples are:

  • A romantic boat ride to dinner at a waterside restaurants on sparkling Lake Lugano
  • An authentic dinner at a Parisian bistro, followed by an inspiring illumination tour of the "City of Light."
  • A special dinner in colorful Madrid featuring the world's best paella.
  • A Prosecco aperitif at an Italian wine party in Venice
  • A Traditional Austrian dinner made from local ingredients at a farmhouse outside Salzburg
